Gregor and then moved back to Minneapolis. She was a member of the Mile Lacs Band of Ojibwe. ![]() She loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Jason Friend, Sister Kelly Friend, and Uncles Lawrence and Melvin Skinaway and niece Tila Ballinger - Friend. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1. AM at the East Lake Community Center with Lee Staples officiating. The wake will begin Wednesday at dusk. Burial will be in the Big Sandy Lake Burial Grounds. Arrangements are with the Mc. Gregor Funeral Home. She loved gardening, doing crafts and being outdoors. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a member of the Mc. Gregor Congregation of Jehovah\'s Witnesses. Delmar Peterson will officiate. Friday at Mc. Gregor Funeral Home in Mc. Gregor and will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church. He attended schools in Lawler and Mc. Gregor graduating from the Mc. Gregor High School in 1. He then attended Vo- Tech School and received his certificate as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. ![]() He worked on construction jobs in numerous places in Minnesota and most recently in North Dakota. He loved cars and motorcycles and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing four wheeling. He especially loved his family and the most important thing in his life was his children, whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 nephews and a brother in law. A visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM services. Arrangements are with the Mc. Gregor Funeral Home. He was a lifelong resident of Aitkin. He married Aira Ellen Hyytinen on May 2. Aitkin. They had a wonderful life together. HE had worked at many grocery stores in Aitkin including Ziske’s. He had also been employed by the Inland Steel Mine in Ironton until its closing. Ralph had most recently been employed at Holder’s Drug Store in Aitkin. He enjoyed many hour of listening to Country and Polka Music and playing cribbage with friends. He was a member of the Golden Age Club in Aitkin and the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. Departed from the comfort of his wife’s arms to the arms of his Heavenly Father on February 2. In retirement, he enjoyed living in Mc. Gregor at “the lake” and was active in his community. He served as Jevne Township Supervisor, was on Aitkin County committees for Planning & Zoning, Comprehensive Land Use Management, and Rivers & Lakes Fair. As a member of Grace Church near Mc. Gregor he chaired the Finance Team, Endowment Team, and 2. Pastoral Call Committee. He was slow to judge others but likely to give genuine compliments. He shared his time and gifts because he loved seeing others succeed. His legacy to all is his faith in God and joy in life; and his sly sense of humor often coupled with his delight in wordplay. He had a gracious, gentle spirit and was a true gentleman to others. He is survived by wife Judy and his children and grandchildren: Scott & Sue Skinner of Aitkin (Ranee, Ryan, Rich); Todd & Mary Jo Skinner of Anoka (Tom, Nate); Kristen & Tom Gannon of Elk River (John, Erin); Karen & Emmett Fogarty of Belle Plaine (Courtney, Jack, Luke, Emily).
